Happy Independence Day!
This year, we celebrate the 241st Independence Day! On July 4th, 1776, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence (http://www.ushistory.org/declaration/document/) declaring the American colonies free and independent states.
As usual, we will not hold our regular meeting in July so that we may all spend the holiday with friends and family. Our next meeting will be August 3rd, 2017.
This month is the Porter Peach Festival
At the county festivals, we sponsor a booth for voter registration and to give Republican candidates a place to advertise their candidacy.
We need volunteers to work the booth –
Every time slot is EMPTY and much help is needed…at least 2 volunteers per shift.
Volunteers are needed for the following:
Thursday, July 13th from 4pm to 11pm
Friday, July 14th from Noon to 11pm
Saturday, July 15th from 7am to 11pm
Please email email@example.com if you are able to help out even if only for an hour.
Last month, we held our June Fish Fry Fundraiser with Dr. Everett Piper as Guest Speaker!
By Mike Kauskey
Dr. Everett Piper, President of Oklahoma Wesleyan University, spoke before a maximum capacity audience of Wagoner County Republicans Thursday evening at a Wagoner County GOP fundraiser. Dr. Piper, perhaps most recognized for his viral op-ed, "This is Not a Daycare - It's a University" is earning a national reputation on talk radio and television for his unapologetic stance on religion, education, cultural courage and his outspoken criticism of "safe spaces," "trigger words" and the "intolerant tolerance" of today's academic environment. Dr. Piper's message to EVERYONE weary of the oppressive burden of meaningless political correctness and distorted precepts of social justice: "Take back the language and the definition of words."
One clearly defined word on the lips of event attendees was "special." The audience at the GOP fundraiser was a who's who of regional political celebrity and local Republican Party activists. The banquet style dinner was provided, prepared and served to attendees by local incumbent Republican office holders and local Party leadership. It was a special "limited availability," experiment that proved extremely successful, inspirational, educational, fun and profitable. Watch for more from a motivated Wagoner County Republican Party at wagonergop.com or follow us on Facebook.
Dr. Piper challenges the Wagoner County Republican Party to be critically engaged in "cultural courage, grounded in the conservation of time-tested truths."

A perfect description of the June 8 Wagoner County Republican Party Fish Fry Fundraiser…
Good food. The dinner was great. It was a feast of fish, salad, coleslaw, hush puppies, baked beans, french fries, and cheese cake. Many thanks to our County Commissioners, Tim Kelley, James Hanning and Chris Edwards and Sheriff Chris Elliott, who provided and sponsored the donation of the meal. And sweet thanks to our Party Treasurer, Mary Ann Colston for the savory salad and scrumptious dessert.
Really good conversation and fellowship with other Republicans. There was a lot of laughter and congeniality filling the room during the evening meal. And we had cheerful table service by some of our elected officials. Many thanks for the servant’s hearts of our State Senator Kim David; State Representatives Kevin McDugle and Tom Gann; County Assessor, Sandy Hodges and County Clerk, Lori Hendricks who volunteered to help serve the drinks and dinner at tables. And thanks, as well to our Party Chair, Jake Peters and Vice Chair, Mark Chapman, who also waited tables.
Excellent speaker. Dr. Everett Piper gave an outstanding speech. Inspirational, motivational, conservative and Christian to the core. Refreshing to hear a steadfast stance on refuting “social justice” and reclaiming language. Relevant and meaningful words for all Conservatives to take to heart!
Attentive audience. Applause. And more applause. Several questions were asked following the speech and Dr. Piper’s responses were awesome. Again applause.
Terrific ticket sales. The evening was a sold-out event. The room was filled to capacity. And there was a waiting list! Many thanks to our new chair, Jake Peters for introducing our Party to new technology. Social media helped with advertisement and sales through Eventbrite was a great idea and allowed for smooth registration at our event. Kudos!
And also, Thanks to the Wagoner County GOP Executive Committee team for the many hours of preparation and work to make the evening a special event.

This is the opening prayer Dr. Piper delivered at the OK State GOP Convention this year. Good summation of our national social situation. (It is identified here as a prayer to an assembly of State educators in OKC.) http://everettpiper.com/uncategorized/talking-points-dr-piper-delivers-prayer-in-oklahoma-city/
The fundraiser was awesome. Thank you all for your hard work. The speaker was excellent.
FABULOUS JOB, WELL DONE!!!!!
I just wanted to personally express my thanks to Marian, Mike, Jake, and Mary Ann, (and I’m sure I left someone out) for the work you put in for the fundraiser.
I think it was very successful. Got a lot of positive feedback. Food was good. People mingled and enjoyed themselves…
A very fun and inspiring night and hopefully financially good too.
It was a group effort, But I know all of you as individuals put in a lot of work long before Thursday. It did pay off!
As I told several people, you all have done the heavy lifting. We enjoyed the fruits of that.
My work schedule just doesn’t allow me a lot of free time to help on these type of things, so my apologies. But I do want you to know that I for one, do appreciate your hard work to make the Wagoner GOP successful.
Kudos to you!

Please give our thanks to all who were involved in the fish fry last night. The evening was perfect. We enjoyed the food, (the fish was awesome) the speaker, and the decorations just made it even more special. We are so glad to be involved in such a wonderful group of people with such an important mission.
Again, thank you all so much.
